Can i add 3 more tiger barbs to my aqarium ?

I have 3 tiger barbs in my 2 foot tank and would like to add 3 more , the ones I have are around 3 years old, if I add 3 more younger barbs would this be a problem ?, I do intend on getting a bigger tank in the near future, any help on this would be great.
